The event will feature a briefing by ICTSD and other experts on the state-of-play of clean energy support (including production subsidies and feed-in tariffs) and an expert discussion fueled by creative thinking on potential multilateral responses to existing challenges. Stakeholders from private sector, civil society, academia and government will close off the event by sharing their views on the way forward for compatibility of domestic renewable energy policies with WTO rules
The following questions will be raised: are current WTO rules supportive of clean energy development? How can current and future trade regulation encourage clean energy development? And how do current WTO disputes on renewable energy support influence the political economy of negotiations on this topic?
This Roundtable will take place at the WTO, Room F. We would be grateful if you could confirm your interest to Ms Natalia Cubilla at [email protected] by at the latest 18th of April.
