The International Centre for Trade & Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO) are holding a dialogue entitled “Assessing the Implementation of the WIPO Development Agenda: Insights and Options from Recent Research” on 17th November 2009 (19h15) at Quaker House Avenue du Mervelet 13, 1209 Geneva.

The dialogue will provide an opportunity for negotiators to discuss the implementation of the WIPO Development Agenda in light of two draft papers commissioned for this purpose: The WIPO Development Agenda – Opportunities and Challenges for Transforming the Governance of Intellectual Property Systems by Sisule F. Musungu (President of IQsensato) and the Technical Assistance Principles of the WIPO Development Agenda and Their Practical Implementation by Carolyn Deere-Birkbeck (Director of the global trade governance project at the global economic governance program at Oxford University) and Ron Marchant (former Head of the UK Patent Office).

As the implementation of the WIPO Development Agenda enters a critical phase, we hope that these papers will represent a useful input for negotiators and other stakeholders.

There will be a presentation of both papers by the Sisule F. Musungu and Ron Marchant, followed by an open discussion.
