The importance of links between trade and climate change may now be obvious to the trade and climate communities, but understanding how action in one field creates dilemmas in the other is still tentative. Moreover, how these challenges can be resolved—politically, legally, and economically—remains unclear.
As such, the Global Platform will conduct a series of roundtables on climate change, trade, and development to provide platforms for open and participatory, yet effective, exchanges amongst trade negotiators, non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations, academics, and the private sector in Geneva, Switzerland. From April to December 2010, these roundtables will be designed to engage stakeholders in ongoing discussions on issues at stake in the process leading to Mexico’s Summit on Climate Change.
