INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FOOD SECURITY AND CLIMATE CHANGE IN DRY AREAS
1st – 4th February 2010
At this conference, participants will discuss the current status of climate change in dry areas and how it affects food security. The impacts of climate change on the availability of natural resources (particularly water), environmental degradation in dry areas, and agricultural production systems will also be explored. Another major theme will be identifying economic/policy options, development priorities, and technologies in certain regions to cope with climate change through the implementation of strategies for adaptation, mitigation, and ecosystem resilience. There will also be a chance to exchange experiences with national and international experts on food security issues expected to be affected by climate change, especially in dry areas.
