The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) is seeking an attorney to join its Geneva office to direct CIEL’s Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Project. S/he will be responsible for the development of innovative solutions to legal and policy questions arising at the interface of international law relating to environment and health, trade, and development, with a particular focus on the rules and institutions of the WTO, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), as well as regional and bilateral trade. In particular, the attorney will be responsible for monitoring these processes and providing advice and support to non-governmental organisations, intergovernmental organisations, and government ministries and missions (especially from developing countries). Candidates must have legal qualifications, preferably a master’s degree in international law, as well as fluency in spoken and written English.
