GLOBALIZATION UNMASKED - THE NEW FACE OF IMPERIALISM. By James Petras, Binghampton University & Henry Veltmeyer, Saint Mary’s University, July 2001. The book is described by the publisher as “a Marxist analysis of the changes to modern capitalism that are described as ‘globalisation’”. As the authors see the word “globalisation”, it obscures more than it reveals about what is going on worldwide. They argue that it provides a cover for a new form of imperialist exploitation and the institution of US hegemony over a global process of capital accumulation.
