The wide diffusion of climate mitigation and adaptation technologies is essential to effectively address climate change. Efforts to achieve this require a solid understanding of existing mechanisms and models as well as regulatory frameworks impacting technology diffusion and transfer, including intellectual property rights. In that context, ICTSD work aims at providing timely empirical and policy-oriented analysis to identify effective mechanisms and incentives for enhanced technology transfer, obstacles and potential points of intervention and possible measures that could be considered in the UNFCCC and more specifically in the context of the operationalisation of the Technology Mechanism created by the Cancun Conference (2010).
