ICTSD aims to promote a sustainable development perspective in the global trade and IP regime. In this context, it closely follows multilateral, regional and bilateral processes and negotiations in the area of trade and IP, and in particular deliberations at the WTO TRIPS Council and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the two main pillars of the global IP architecture.
Through its dialogues and policy-oriented research, ICTSD has contributed towards advancing discussions in these processes and negotiations in a manner that takes into consideration the growing diversity of views and relevant actors, as well as important public policy objectives for achieving sustainable development. Most recently, ICTSD has focused particular attention in providing inputs to the efforts to advance a Development Agenda at WIPO.
